A new Ultrabook has quietly gone live within Dell’s world. The Dell Inspiron 14Z Ultrabook is showing in Dell stores across Australia and Asia and is a little bit confusing. It’s at the 21mm limit for 14” Ultrabooks and it weighs a relatively heavy, no, very heavy, 2.37KG. Base pricing is coming in at the equivalent of about 1000 US dollars depending on the country. The Dell Inspiron 14Z is built on Core i3, Core i5 or Core i7 configuration. 8GB of RAM and a 500GB drive long with the DVD drive hint at work-horse scenarios.

The HP TouchSmart 14 is an Ultrabook based on Intel's Haswell platform. What makes this stand above the crowd is it's impressive 3200x1800 pixels display. At 14" this will be the highest pixel density there is right now. There will be options for a 1366x768 or 1600x900 pixel display.
Samsung ATIV Book 5, 14.0 inch, 1900 grams (4.19 lbs)
The Samsung ATIV Book 5 is a Laptop based on Intel's Ivy-Bridge platform. It comes with a 14" 1366x768 pixels touchscreen. With Bluetooth 4.0 Wifi a/b/g/n and a gig-ethernet port there are plenty connection options. One annoying bit is the optional mini VGA adapter, which has to be bought seperately.
Medion Akoya S4216, 14.0 inch, 1900 grams (4.19 lbs)
The Medion Akoya S4216 is a very special budget priced Ultrabook, intruduced by ALDI in Germany. It comes with an optical DVD burner AND an extra battery which is swappable with the optical disc drive. The included battery is a 4-cell Li-Ion battery and the extra battery (which also is included) is a 3-cell Li-Polymer type. With both batteries plugged in the Ultrabook is verified for up to 8hrs of batterylife. Intel Wi-Di is also included as well as USB 3.0 and a gigabit ethernet port.
ASUS VivoBook S400, 14.1 inch, 1995 grams (4.4 lbs)
As one of the cheapest touch-enabled Ultrabooks, the Vivobook S400 should get a large audience although a deeper dive on the specs reveals a few points of note. The weight is mainstream rather than class-leading and the spinning hybrid drive won't bring you the speeds you see on SSD-based devices.

This is the Acer Aspire V5 Touch, a Windows 8 Touch Ultrabook running on Intel's Ivy Bridge platform. It comes with either an 14 or 15 inch screen. The Touchscreen offers a recognition of up to 10 fingers.
Asus S46CM, 14.0 inch, 2300 grams (5.07 lbs)
The ASUS S56CM is a 15" Ultrabook with a wide range of options to choose from. With its thickness of only 21mm and 2.3kg weight this is a light 15.6" laptop. It runs on Intel's Ivy Bridge platform sporting a 1.8GHz Core i3 in its cheapest configuration and a Core i7 with 1.9-3GHz clockrate at the end of the price-spectrum. There is a sibling model of this laptop at 14" which lacks the NVIDIA GeForce GT635M graphics card.

This is the 14" version of the Acer Aspire V5. It comes with a Intel Core-i3 2367M clocked at 1.4 GHz and a NVIDIA GeForce GT620M. It has 4GB of RAM and 320GB of Storage. The Device comes with a built-in DVD drive and a 4 cell battery which should power the device for up to 5 hours.
Apple MacBook Pro 2012 15-inch, 15.4 inch, 2020 grams (4.45 lbs)
This is the new Apple MacBook Pro with a Retina display. It comes with 2 graphics cards, a built in Intel HD 4000 and a NVIDIA Geforce GT650M with 1GB of GDDR5 memory. It also comes with an HDMI out and 2 Thunderbolt ports. There is also an 2.6GHz Version available with 512GB SSD storage. The display features a stunning 2880x1800 resolution.
Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra M5, 14.0 inch, 1900 grams (4.19 lbs)
The new Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra M5 is an Ultrabook with a discrete graphics solution. It features an Nvidia GT640M for more graphics power. We don't have too much information on this one, but it is said to feature most specifications that the Acer Aspire M3 has.
