KIDC (unconfirmed) US700W alternatives

Cisco Cius, 7 inch, 522 grams (1.15 lbs)
Netbook Navigator Nav 7, 7 inch, 590 grams (1.3 lbs)
A 7" UMPC built on Atom fills a requirement for a number of markets but take note, this is the older Atom platform. (Z5XX) with the slower GPU (200Mhz compared to 400Mhz on the Z6xx series.) It's strange to see a device like this without any form of video out. The rear-mounted touch panel and mouse buttons should improve Windows usage although we would want to test that before recommending a buy. Weight seems acceptable - 550gms
Archos 80 (G9), 8 inch, 482 grams (1.06 lbs)
Certainly one of the most unique Honeycomb tablets yet announced. The Archos 80 (G9) offers two distinct memory options, 16GB flash or 250GB of HDD storage. The 250GB version is slightly thicker and heavier (size/weight listed in our database is the 16GB version). For $49 you can purchase an unlocked 3G USB modem which docks seamlessly into a slot in the back of the device. This modem will also work with PCs.
Acer Iconia Tab A100 Wifi (XE.H6REN.006), 7 inch, 450 grams (0.99 lbs)
Acer have a little catching-up to do in the Android space. The A500 lagged in software updates but it looks like the A100 is shipping with 3.2. As a competitor to the Galaxy Tab it's priced well and should turn in better performance. Definitely worth a closer look, even for existing Galaxy Tab 7 owners.
Huawei IDEOS S7 Slim, 7 inch, 448 grams (0.99 lbs)
Dell Streak 7, 7 inch, 450 grams (0.99 lbs)
With an opening price of $450 in the U.S. (T-Mobile) this is a relatively well priced tablet for one that includes multi-touch capacative screen, 3G and full Google Market and application support. The WVGA screen will show up in comparisons against higher resolution screens but should bring advantages for gaming. Early reviews are indicating battery life much less than equivalent 7" tablets although the Streak 7 only has a 10Wh battery and the dual-core platform could be using more energy than single-core equivalents.
eLocity A7, 7 inch, 463 grams (1.02 lbs)
Could work as a great portable home theater, as long as the battery is up to the task. With Nvidia Tegra 2, there shouldn't be a problem outputting 1080p video through the A7's HDMI port. Couple that with decent out-of-the-box codec and container support (see the 'Product Notes' section on this page), and a full sized USB 2.0 port (which can read flash drives up to 64GB), the A7 might be a nice portable home theater. It even comes with a 6-foot HDMI cable. No 3G options on the A7, so internet usage will be restricted to WiFi hotspots, or on the go by tethering to another device.
Pioneer Dreambook ePad N7, 7 inch, 465 grams (1.03 lbs)
If this gets a true Android+Google apps build, a promise of 2.2 and a docking cradle it's going to give the Huawei S7 a real challenge. Australian dollar converted price is about $450 US.
Huawei Smakit S7, 7 inch, 500 grams (1.1 lbs)
Looking well designed and from a company that has brought Google Android phones to market before, we're hoping for a well specified device with the full Google Android experience. Some specifications we've seen talk about HD video capture which, as far as we know, would indicated a very recent processing platform.
Sony Vaio (P11), 8 inch, 632 grams (1.39 lbs)
Another well specified clamshell-style UMPC. Slightly too wide for thumb typing but wide enough for a touch-typing experience. 1.8Ghz, 2GB RAM and SSD helps with speed and this should make quite a rugged travel computer too.
