In the Origamiportal.com forums, ervetzin has posted a pic and made a few comments about the extended battery for the Samsung Q1 UMPC. [click image to enlarge]
ervetzin paid a rather heafty $164.21 for the part (#BA96-03130A) from samsungparts.com
The battery is about twice the size of the original. It extends about 3/4″ below the bottom of the unit. For me this is actually a welcome added space for resting my hand while inking. The added area is black, but not polished like the rest of the front. The Q1 will still fit in the sleeve that came with it, but it is a tight fit. I have to use the “hold” switch to keep it from turning itself back on when I slide it in.
So, how long does it last?
In my initial test (low brightness, moderate browsing via wifi & listening to mp3s) I got approximately 5 1/2 hours out of it.
In my opinion, for 5.5 hours (plus the use of the original as a 2.5hr spare) its worth the money.

I’m hoping that gets released in the next two weeks; I’ll be in Chicago the weekend of the 21st, and it’d be very nice to swing by a Best Buy (or venture over to CDW!) and pick one up on my trip. Heck, at that price, I wouldn’t even have to pay duty on it to carry it back.

hmm, cant wait to get my hands on one, but whilst its fitted to the samsung will the unit fit in the official exec case with the keyboard?
Not bad. I’ve considered the battery one of the really weak points on the UMPCs. Any idea as to the weight of the overall unit when you add on this battery?
From other 6-cell batteries that i’ve seen, it looks like it would add 150-200gm to the overall weight. I don’t have any official figures though.
Steve.
The battery, along with all of the other parts and accessories for the Q1 can also be found at http://www.partstore.com
They are pretty hard to find by category, so I used the parts list at http://www.samsungparts.com/search/search.asp?searchflag=byonemodel&searchkey=npq1&modelid=415192
