Disappointing Nokia Tablet rumor.

A tip has been posted to the tipsters favorite blog, Engadget, with a picture of a new Nokia tablet/companion device.

Its disappointing because it seems to be a device that’s further away from the centre of the ultra mobile PC market than the 770. It also doesn’t have the keyboard that Nokia were promising.

I only hope that this is one of the range of prototypes that Nokia was looking at and that this Mylo wannabe will end up in the bin.

There’s no place for a small-screened device any more. Smartphones, feature phone, PMPs, Navigation devices have taken that market already. We need minimum 5″ 800×480 screens in order to be able to achieve anything useful.

The only specs that have been made available are ‘SiRF Star III GPS chipset, along with a bit of audio and video codec support’

My take on this one – its a Navigation device meant for the car (Nokia have bough Gate5 remember.) and is not the successor to the 770.

Steve /Chippy.

[Update: I just re-read that. I must have been in an agressive mood this morning! Sorry Nokia ;-)]
