The first Q1b owners are starting to share the good news about this VIA based Samsung Q1. There were three unique selling points announced at the Berlin IFA. 30% Brighter Screen. WiBro/UMTS built in. 5 hours battery life.. So what are the users saying? Check the Origamiproject forums out because there’s a report of 3.5 hours battery life. Not exactly 5 hours is it. A number of sites are reporting today that the Intel/Yahoo ultra mobile PC is going to be manufactured by Quanta, the same company that is planning to manufacture the One Laptop Per Child / 2B1 in million-piece quantities. Its an intriguing project with a huge number of questions around it. Will Yahoo subsidise the UMPC? If you’re involved with ultra mobile PC marketing, you will have had these thoughts a million times. Should the ultra mobile PC be pushed into the mass-market consumer space with price reductions or should it be left for a while to develop through VAR channels? Thanks to someone placing a comment in on the site, I know know that Autoroute 2007 will be available in the UK on the 27th October. I see a pre-order price at Amazon of £31.49 . The version with the (apparently quite good) USB GPS receiver is £71.99 For Germany, I see one online retailer offering it for pre-order with an expected availability date of 20th November. Steve .
