For those gamers wanting to know how the Intel GMA900-based UMPCs perform (see list of UMPCs below.) there’s a list of compatible games on the Intel website. The list was created in 2004 (which gives you some idea about how old these chipsets are.) but has been updated since then so you’ll find some newer games in there too. Ultra Mobile PCs with the Intel GMA900 GPU: Samsung Q1, ASUS R2H, Founder Mininote, Tablet Kiosk i7200 series, Fujitsu P1510d, JVC XP741, JVC XP941, Toshiba Libretto U100. The Sony UX has […]

SmartCaddie was one of the first brand names in the ultra mobile PC market back in April and Paceblade Japan (PBJ) have just expanded the SmartCaddie range of UMPCs with a branded ECS H70 – The EX. This model is in addition to the original SmartCaddie which was based on the Amtek T700. It looks like they are playing follow the leader with Tablet Kiosk! This is interesting for Europe as Paceblade distribute the original SmartCaddie as the Easybook P7 in Germany. As far as I know, TabletKiosk have some territorial […]

Thanks to Ian, a friend of mine who bought an R2H, I’ve just had a few hours ‘hands-on’ with the Asus R2H. But first….. Oh come on. Its Friday night and its been a busy week. Cheers! Back to the ASUS R2H. After something like 7 months waiting, I finally got to see one for real. And it looks great. Really. I have no hesitation in saying that I think this the most attractive ultra mobile PC so far. While the other UMPCs styling is OK, the ASUS has obviously had some design thought […]

I’m almost running out of blogging steam on the i7210. The review has been very hard work but its easily the most in-depth review on Carrypad so far. I hope you find it useful. Don’t expect all reviews to be this detailed as part of it was for my own benefit as an i7210 owner. There are a number of issues that came up during the testing that are being dealt with by TabletKiosk. I know that the people at GottaBeMobile have also fed back their issues too. Tablet Kiosk […]

That SD slot on the i7210 is wonderful. So is the weather here so I’ve done an outdoor shoot today. Click on any of the images to go to through to the gallery. Click for gallery. Streets and Trips 2007 has been released and the features could go some way to filling the void for live in-car navigation on Windows XP. Especially in Europe where there is nothing really suitable for in-car operation without a keyboard. If you read the ultra mobile PC tailoring news item that I wrote (referencing an MSDN blog.) then you might remember this: Lastly, we made the first significant investments in tailoring the application for ultra-mobile PCs, so that as that platform begins to emerge in CY07 we have a winning […]
