Its a PC, and its small. Its a Linutop. OK, so it hasn’t got a screen or battery power so its nowhere near a UMPC, but its another move in the direction of low power browser-based thin computing. If you coupled it with an external battery pack, a portable 7″ screen, mini keyboard and an external HDD or flash drive, you’d have quite a flexible modular computer. You might find it useful as a carputer or a PC for the kids. Google should brand these and give them out as […]

…and they heard that “things have pepped up quite considerably under the hood, and internal memory has been bumped to 180MB” More images and comment at Engadget. This is great news apart from the lack of keyboard. I guess the communicator is selling too well and Nokia can’t risk cutting across its market. But it looks nicer than the 770 in my opinion. As Thoughtfix mentioned in his blog this afternoon, the photos and detailed documents in the FCC filing are under a confidentiality agreement until Jan 24, 2007 but maybe […]

The Pepperpad 3 review has just been posted at Carrypad.
Its not an Origami UMPC but it makes a good job of being a portable and ready-to-go Internet access computer.

Don’t forget that the Nokia World forums and expo start in Amsterdam tomorrow. The keynote speech by Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, President and CEO is at 09:30 CET (local time.) The only reason I’m interested is to see if Nokia announce any more news on the 880/870/updated 770 Internet Tablet device. Especially as Ari Jaaski was winding us up with a teaser on Monday. I was tempted to drive up there as Clive Anderson, the comedian, is speaking too. Robert Scoble is also in Amsterdam on Saturday so there may be a chance […]

I posted it last night but kept it quiet due to my server being overloaded. The Pepperpad 3 full review is now available. I’ve had the Pepperpad for about 6 weeks now and I’m really really happy. Its no business companion for sure, and the Pepper software needs improvements, but as a Google-companion and for most common Internet activities, its much better than a notebook PC or a keyboard-less UMPC. The more Web applications that come online, the more useful and useable the Pepperpad becomes. Enjoy the review. Steve / Chippy Technorati […]
