I was pointed to a conversation running over at Handtops.com (who need to get a forum RSS feed running. I keep missing good things over there!) yesterday morning about a very happy Vega user. Here are a few excerpts from the thread. I am enjoying the Vega more than the ux, mainly because of the screen and the way it feels to hold in the hands. I find it much more comfortable. In terms of opening office, internet, visual studio etc, it seems just as quick as the UX. Battery life […]

How far away do you think we are from the first digital camera with integrated Windows XP? Or perhaps the other way round. A UMPC with a detachable 5 mega-pixel optical camera, flash, flash sync output and tripod mounting point.
I think its closer than we think.

For fear of upsetting the timestamp on that last post (Part 1), here’s the result of the ‘fastest photo blog’ test on a separate entry. For those seeing this post without reading the previous posts, I advise to read the ultra mobile PC and DIgital Photography article and then the speed-post test to understand what I’m doing here. I timed 50 seconds between pressing the shutter release on the ultra mobile PC and the publish process finishing on Livewriter. At 65 seconds I had confirmed that the post was on […]

As promised. This text is pre-prepared. I will take a photo of BBC world teletxt and the ultra mobile PC that i’ve just time-synced. BBC world is a few seconds behind as its coming over cable Now to take the photo and publish it. The timestamp on the blog should tell the story but I think it will be less than one minute so maybe i’ll time it too. Here’s the photo… Steve View details of all Ultra Mobile devices in the ultra mobile PC product database. From […]

How far away do you think we are from the first digital camera with integrated Windows XP? Or perhaps the other way round. A ultra mobile PC with a detachable 5 mega-pixel optical camera, flash, flash sync output and tripod mounting point. I think its closer than we think. If you take the best of the smartphone cameras (Nokia N93?) with the smallest ultra mobile PC (the Vega?) you already have something very useable and available today. Have a look at the image below. What do you see? A bad […]

PocketPC-Solutions, the only retailer of the Vega ultra mobile PC in Europe at the moment, have announced the availability of a nice leather case for the Vega UMPC. Posh. No man-bag worries here! There’s an integrated stand too. The Vega doesn’t have a stand so this is very nice indeed. I’m going to have to get myself one of these. The case is an official Raon Digital product and will sell for £39.99. Details here. The current allocation of Vega UMPCs is already sold out but a new delivery is expected towards the end of […]

I have been out of town for the past couple of weeks and now that I’m back I figured I’d post a little more news about the newest UMPC the R2H.
Jkontherun.com has a great post linking to a few R2H videos. Now that people have them in hand they all want to make videos about them.
Gottabemobile.com has a great video and TinyScreenfuls has an unboxing video.
Also the post has a link to a flybook video, so go check it out here
