UMEC has an interesting almost-UMPC.

The ELT408 hand-top tablet from UMEC will be shown at CES next year and it has quite a unique specification.

According to the website it has a 7″ screen that runs up to 640×480 res. That must be wrong because they are also talking about having an HDMI-out port on the device. [Update: The screen res is a respectible 800×600. Good resolution]

It looks like a convertible device but if you look at the PDF they have, there doesn’t appear to be a keyboard under the screen.

There’s a Express card slot, an analogue modem and an Ethernet jack. A real mix of old and new tech and slightly confusing. I’m sure we’ll be hearing more in Jan.
