Nokia N800 Internet Tablet is in the shops!

Posted on 06 January 2007

This is mad. The N800 Internet Tablet has just appeared in CompUSA. Just like that.   There’s a full set of images at Flickr. John Tokash has some size analysis but we’re all still waiting for those important specs. Will it have more memory and a better processor? Update: Price is being reported as $399 I guess we’ll see this announced by Nokia in the next few day so all will be revealed soon. I’m tracking specs as I find them in the product portal here. Original story: RingNokia. Steve. […]

Server suffering.

Posted on 06 January 2007

Sorry everyone. The (new and rather disappointing) server is getting hit more than it can handle at the moment. Response is r-a-t-h-e-r — s-l-o-w. I’ll see if I can do something about before CES traffic kicks in. Steve / Chippy. View details of all Ultra Mobile devices in the ultra mobile PC product database. Tabletscape teams start to arrive in Vegas.

Posted on 06 January 2007

I’m adjusting my German body clock to the CES time-zone by staying up as late as possible at home and keeping myself busy. For the next week I have taken over my wife’s office which has a connected guest bedroom. I can literally sleep next to the computer while I wait for news to come in from everyone out in Vegas! Here I am testing it out. Comfy! Things are already starting to happen over in Vegas. Warner and Dennis (GottaBeMobile) have met up with James (jkOnTheRun) and it looks like Dennis has […]

Tabletscape forming in Vegas.

Posted on 06 January 2007

Things are already starting to happen in Vegas. Warner and Dennis (GottaBeMobile) have met up with James (jkOnTheRun) and the rest of the blogging crew are either on their way or packing their bags.

The big Tablet/UMPC meet-up is on Tuesday [details] and unfortunately we can’t be there. We had thought of sending an a dancing girl over but when we called they said they were already booked under the name of ‘Mr Origami.’ Mmm.

Communicator sub-UMPCs.

Posted on 05 January 2007

The S-Xgen is going to be launched at CES in just a few days. They are entering a tough market and although they mention UMPCs in their marketing, its the communicator phone segment that’s going to be the battleground for them. I’ve got a few opinions about devices in that business-user market. If you had to choose between these two would you choose the S-XGen or the HTC Athena? I know what I’d choose. its all in the screen size for me. The bigger browsing space wins every time because I’ll be accessing most […]

Unboxing a Tiny Notebook – Kohjinsha SA1F00A

Posted on 05 January 2007

When you look in Google for ‘worlds smallest laptop’ and ‘worlds smallest notebook’ there’s nothing there that beats the Kohji. (Jan 2007).  Samsung M70, Q35 and the Kohjinsha SA1 And then take a look for the worlds most energy efficient laptop/notebook. Once again, the Kohji wins. It’s so energy efficient that you could run it from an 8W solar panel. It’s also one of the lightest too at under 1000gm. Then there’s the noise factor. As its fanless (AFAIK,) it’s potentially the quietest notebook PC in the world. Unfortunately, all […]

Amtek T700 UMPC car holder, stand and expansion box.

Posted on 05 January 2007

We have received images of new Amtek T700 accessories that should be available soon. Where and by whom they will be sold is unknown (TabletKiosk currently have a good range of accessories for the V7110 – a re-badged Amtek T700. Keep a watch on them at CES.)

Firstly there’s a new stand. This looks like it has multiple settings and fixes permanently to the back of the device.

Then there’s a car holder which we’re very pleased to see. Again it looks like a permanent fixture.

Finally there’s the expansion box / docking box that was shown back in July. Did it really take them 5 months to paint it!

Here’s the image that was shown in July. It has an SD slot, a VGA port, Ethernet port, USB2.0 ports and audio out/mic in port. We’re not quite sure how it all fits together with the T700 as the docking port is on the lower edge of the device.

There’s no info on pricing unfortunately and no word on a docking station which TabletKiosk themselves have been talking about.
