Amtek U650. Live images. Video Review

The Amtek U560 gets my award for the prettiest ultra mobile PC of Computex and looking at some of the blogs on it, many other people feel the same. But lets be pragmatic for one second. This is a device that doesn’t fit in a pocket. (Christoph tried and said that you might get away with it if you’re a cargo pants fan but otherwise its too big) so that means you need to carry it. Which means you have to have a bag which then means that umpc sizing is not an issue. If you have a bag you can consider any of the 7″ devices too. I don’t really see much advantage in the thumboard over the Q1 Ultra keys either. Until this form factor can be made thinner, it doesn’t really have an advantage over a ultra mobile PC with a 7″ screen. At 36mm thick, its quite a bit thicker than a 24mm thick Q1 Ultra and the weight is almost the same.

But lets let our heart rule our head for a minute now and enjoy these live pictures and short video that I’ve just got in from Computex. I’ve heard that the screen is soft touch, that the battery life is in the region of 3.5 hours (not tested) and that the price is, as we’ve heard from other blogs, targeted at the $1200 mark. I’ve also heard again that this is due to be released at the end of the year.
