With a screen size of 8.9″and a weight of 1KG, this one qualifies under the official UMPCPortal ‘what is a UMPC’ rules and earns some respect because it’s got a productivity-focused specification list along with mobile WiMax communications capability.

The Cloudbook Max will be launched into the Sprint Xohm range of WiMax enabled devices (just like the N810 WiMax, also announced today) and is only likely to be available with a contract and in areas where Sprint WiMax is available. The spec list is quite strong and with the 1024×600 screen there’s definitely productivity potential in this one. If Everex are able to squeeze the Isaiah CPU into this before launch and offer it at a good price, the Flybook guys will have to watch out because their V5 runs up to $3000 for what is spec-for-spec, almost the same device. This looks like another good design win for VIA.
GeekZone.co.nz have some more details so check out their article here. I’ve also added the device and all the specifications to the database.
