While I’ve yet too see the keynote or pick up any significant announcements from it apart from a wave of general MID talk, it does signify the lifting of news embargos. First into my mailbox this morning was the keynote press release which you can read on the Intel website. [PDF] There doesn’t seem to anything that significant in it but that’s probably because it feels like a repeat of what I heard at CeBIT. In summary, its mostly about mobile and low-power technology and again, indicates that the worlds most important silicon company is investing a serious amount of money into the MID and ultra mobile PC segment. More interesting than the keynote PR exercise is the release of the part numbers and details of the Atom CPU and chipset range and a press release from Imagination Technologies.

You’ll see that the 800Mhz part is the ultra low power version which shows an impressive average drain of 160mw. At the productivity end of the scale (the CPU’s that will enable XP and Vista to run) you’re seeing a max clock of 1.8Ghz but the pricing is nearly 4 times that of the cheapest, Z500, ‘kit.’

On the Poulsbo front, we, at last, have confirmation that the graphics engine is based on POWERVR technology from Imagination Technologies. From the press release:
Tony King-Smith, vice president of marketing, Imagination Technologies, said: “The growth of mobile multimedia information and entertainment is driving demand for innovative, high performance, low power technologies. Our POWERVR SGX and VXD IP cores deliver to these needs and help to significantly enrich the user’s viewing experience. The introduction of Intel’s Centrino Atom processor technology incorporating our POWERVR graphics and video technologies signifies the beginning of a new class of Mobile Internet Device. Imagination looks forward to its continued collaboration with leading industry players to provide products and technologies that help enable ever more dynamic visual user experiences. inch
