There’s another PC World snippet coming through today which reveals that Acer will launch their netbook at Computex in June. That makes total sense seeing as that’s the last major trade-fair before the netbook launch itself. Computex is guaranteed to be awash with mini notebooks and we should expect to see the Atom-based Asus Eee PC along with many of the other 20-or-so netbooks that are under development. I won’t be going myself but UMPCPortal will have a rep or two out there so expect some juicy coverage. Source

Unlike the Sharp Em-One that I always craved, the Sharp Willcom D4 will be available through a grey importer. Albeit for a price! Pocketables reports that GeekStuff4U.com will have the device in stock from the end of June. Willcom D4 preorders priced above $1500 $1500 is, of course, a crazy price for most of us but I’m sure it will be ‘in scope’ for some. Willcom D4 specs and links

At 10″ and 1.2Kg I probably won’t be putting this into the ultra mobile PC database but it’s interesting to note that the Medion Akoya Mini E1210 is a version of the MSI Wind (check the close-up images against the MSI Wind video below.) At 400 Euro’s or below though, it’s an interesting option. Via Slashgear. Source. Le Journal du Geek. Video after the jump.

This feels like a breath of fresh air for me. I hope it feels the same for you. For the last 18 months I’ve been using a Xoops content management system for UMPCPortal news and to be honest, it’s been a pain in the backside. I’ve never been able to open comments up to the public, the management system was slow, the RSS feeds were always 30 minutes behind, the real time stats were almost non-existent, metaweblog posting support was limited, third party plugins always felt a little risky, trackback […]

Hong Kong is #3 on the HP2133 launch list. UMPCFever have just posted the news that the HP 2133 Mini Note has been officially launched in Hong Kong. Two models where shown…and there are also two versions of the device available. (Badum…tsch!) The Linux/120GB/1GB version will be available for the equivalent local price of 320 Euros and you’ll pay an extra 75 Euros for Vista/160GB/2GB which is a damn good deal. Update: UMPCFever tell me that the MiniNote is expected to be available at the end of April. More, great, […]

It appears that Asustek, Hong Kong, have decided to offer users free upgrades of the Eee PC 900 batteries due to a slip-up that saw reviews and presentations include a larger capacity battery than was actually shipped. While this is good for Hong Kong, it may not apply to the rest of the world. ASUS are also saying that the standard battery for the Eee PC 900 will be the 4400mah version. Via jkkmobile.
