UMPCPortal have been fortunate enough to be able to build some good relationships with resellers over the last few years which means there’s a nice two way channel for information that can go to and from potential customers.
For example, yesterday I contacted Gigabyte about the rumored 912, 8.9" netbook and I should be getting some official news very soon. In the other direction, came the following information for UK and Australian customers…
Firstly, Vye PC UK have cut prices on the complete range of VyePC’s from the AMD-based S18 (touchscreen/1GB/120GB) up to the new S41 (with built-in DVD.)
The latest SRP (suggested retail prices) in the UK are now:
- S18PB: – 7" AMD Geode-based, 1GB, 120GB drive, touchscreen. SRP: 499 pounds.
- S37AVHP – 7" Intel A100-based, 1024×600, 1GB, 120GB drive, Vista. SRP: 549 pounds.
- S37BXPP – 7" Intel A110-based, 1024×600, 1GB, 120GB drive, Windows XP Pro. SRP: 699 pounds. (Also available with Vista for the same price.)
Vye have also sent along specs a pricing details for the new S41. The S41 is the DVD-equipped model. I’m hoping we’ll have one of these for testing very soon.
- S41A – 7" Intel A110-based, 1024×600, 1GB, 80GB drive, super multi DVD, Vista Home premium. SRP: 799 pounds.
- S41B – 7" Intel A110-based, 1024×600, 1GB, 80GB drive, super multi DVD, Digital TV receiver, Vista Home Premium. SRP: 849 pounds.
For trade prices, resellers should contact Vye UK directly. VyeShop UK have already adjusted their prices and are showing the S41 for pre-order now. There’s a list of resellers here.
As for the Free RAM on the Eee PC, this one is for the Australian customers only. If you buy an Eee PC in May, you get a free 1GB stick of RAM! Details aren’t available on the Tegatech website yet but you can hassle them for more information and a list of resellers participating in the scheme through their contact form.
That more sounds like they are trying to empty their stocks and squeeze some extra quids cuz Atom is knocking the door. I do really hope Inventec & Co aren’t sleeping, don’t see anyone buying their old Geode/A1x0 designs after Atom and VIA’s Isaiah monster devices will come out. And it already started, a friend of mine really liked my SH and was waiting for a price drop (or a good discount coupon) but now he is on a back order queue for HP’s 2133. So, yep, good news but a bit too late VYE IMHO …
