‘Desirable’ is the word and I base that thought purely on the looks on the MSI Wind, just as a large percentage of netbook buyers are going to do. I’m almost trying to convince myself that I need one after watching this video. More momentum to MSI’s marketing efforts as the rocky waters of Computex approach.
Oh the power of a decent Internet video!
Click through to the Crave video. More info on the MSI Wind available on its product page where you can also check out the alternatives.
Would we be able to run games on that thing? low end WoW? high end 1st person shooters?
And what is more powerful anyway … Q1U or that?
I think you are missing the point if you want to play a game on the UMPC platforms.
Dunno about the gaming aspect of the Atom the others ( eee, cloud book) have been able to run oldschool games such as rouge squadron and vice city. But there isn’t really a report on what the Atom is capable of.Considering that the processor is made for power effiecency I doubt you’ll be able to go beyond the norm and maybe play some low end games
I’ve got the MSI Wind Manual and have published the specs:

I also have a link so others can get the manual too!
asking about games is legit.

Q1U is, almost like-for-like when comparing to Diamondville performance. Battery life is better though (Largely due to smaller screen)
And of course, I have SSD, 2GB andHSDPA in my Q1 Ultra!!
Oh, and the Q1 Ultra eaiser to use on sofa, bed and in toilet ;-)
SHame it costs twice as much!

As for gaming, i’m not the right person to ask. There’s lots of gaming threads in the forums though.
I estimate that you’re looking at 2002 games to get any sort or real experience.
One problem I alsways have with games is that they require CDROM to be present. Yes, there are hacks, but they are…..hacks!
Why no SSD in the Wind?
What about jkk’s touch screen (and hopefully the price for LINUX version… what LINUX will they use… Ubuntu or other)?
Oh – 80GB hard disk… and replacing that with an SSD would that extend the low battery life of the unit?
There was already a question about the SSD in one website that I don’t remember right now. But the answer was that it would add 30-60 minutes.
