Expansys have just put up their Aspire One prices in the UK (and for delivery EU-wide) with the Linux version plus 512MB and an 80GB HDD going for just 244 pounds. There’s no mention of the SSD version yet but with the 80GB version going for that price, only those looking for ruggedness or the best possible battery life will be waiting. Prices are also available for XP and 1GB versions here. (affiliate link) As for delivery dates, neither Acer or Expansys can fill me in on that one yet […]

As expected, the iPhone is very expensive indeed. [See the update below. The source linked to the wrong PDF!] Prices do seem more reasonable now that we’ve got the correct info! Not only that but the data plans are restricted right down to the point where on the entry-level plan, you get no data at all! How’s that for the phone that’s supposed to open up the world of the Internet to your pocket? T-Mobile in Germany have released the pricing plan and small-print for the iPhone 3G which starts […]

I had to laugh this morning as I read the ‘source’ of the HTC ultra mobile PC news ripple that went through mobile computing blogs yesterday. The focus of HTC’s development will continue to strengthen users’ Internet experience through mobile devices, Chou said without further elaborating on the company’s ultra mobile PC strategy. Digitimes did a good job of turning that one into ultra mobile PC news. It has long been rumoured that HTC will use Snapdragon [Nov 2007 news] and that HTC will make a MID [March 2008 News]. […]

A number of Acer Aspire One articles came to my attention last week that I have only just got round to reviewing. The first article from PC Professionale includes a video showing the internals of the Aspire One. There are a couple of important points to note (that come from a translation by Blogeee.net) which are the SIM card reader and easy-to-access 3G slot module slot. The 3G module slot definitely raises the interest level for me. The second article is a fairly detailed in-depth review from Laptop Magazine who […]

Mobile video and modding extraordinaire Jkk has just published a review of the newest Origami software pack we mentioned yesterday. Head on over to jkkmobile to check it out and see what he thinks. Good news is there are no more hardware checks in place so it will run on any device, no installer file hacking required.

EeePCNews.de have a very interesting news article about a possible AMD CPU aimed at netbooks and UMPCs. Its a 64 bit, single core CPU running at 1Ghz with a TDP of 8W. Effectively half of a Turion X2 dual-core CPU. Note that the CPU includes the memory controller (Northbridge) but no Southbridge or GPU. At 8W TDP, it is an option for netbooks and possibly high-end ultra mobile PC like the AMD ultra mobile PC seen at Computex but unless an underclocked version appears at 5W or less, it’s probably […]

The guys over at TweakTown went out and searched for the newest 10 inch Eee until they found it. They have a video review up which I’m embedding here and some pictures you can check out over at their site.
