We showed you the upcoming Samsung netbook last week, and now we have some additional information regarding the unit. Samsung is going for the 10" screen range, and the Samsung netbook’s screen will be 10.2" to be exact. Specs don’t really differ very much from what we predicted last week, but here is the latest info (from Pocketables.net): 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor 1GB RAM 10.2" screen (1024 x 600) 80GB/120GB/160GB hard drive options Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 1.3MP camera 3-in-1 card reader 2.9 pounds 6-cell battery Anyone could have guessed the […]

I am back in full after a weekend of writing lab reports and studying for tests (yes school has started yet again…) and its time to summarize some of the news items we missed over the last few days. First of all, according to his friendfeed Chippy is in Amsterdam where he will hopefully bring us a hands-on report about the new Opera-enabled Archos Media tablets. I’m sure he will have something up soon. Second we have new netbooks. They are popping up all over the place – we have […]

It seems great that you could go out and pick up a tiny netbook capable of browsing the web for around $300 today, however many of these inexpensive new netbooks offer only a small amount of storage. For instance, the new Inspiron Mini 9 can only be equipped (from the factory) with up to 16GB of storage. With such little space available to us, it is important to keep data organized and make the most of the space you have. I have personally been using a VAIO UX180 ultra mobile […]

As I happened to be in my local mall I decided to look at what’s new in the electronics store. I was surprised to find the store had a whole dedicated netbook section and among them were the new Eee 904 models. These are basically the 1000h with the smaller 8.9 inch screen. The price here is 1200zl, which happens to be 100zl less than the windows version of the 901. I would still rather have the 901 though as the 904 has a not so good looking bezel around […]

This one isn’t going to win any style or processing power competitions but as Jenn says, if it’s offered at a reasonable price, it might find an audience. Its got useful on-frame controls a useable 1.2Ghz VIA processor and Windows XP. Could be a good one for those car PC fans! The Match Tech Industrial M860 specs are as follows. Manufacturer: Match Tech Industrial Model name: M860 CPU type: VIA CPU speed: 1200 Mhz OS: Windows XP Home Display Size: 7" 800 X 480 RAM: 1024 MB Hard Disk: 60 […]

That’s the feeling I have right now as we head into the Christmas marketing season where there’s an iPhone 3G, 2nd-gen iPod touch, New Archos PMP’s, Opera Mobile 9.5 on multiple devices and Google Android ready to go. What’s the delay? Did Intel and partners simply go for the instant cash and switch resources to Netbooks (a very worrying long-term strategy in low-margin devices) or are they having a more serious problem – getting the software ready. If that’s their problem then they lose their trump card. X86 is supposed […]

A great overview video from JKKMobile on the SX3. Its attractive, has a good hardware design and impressive set of specifications and features. Does it perform though? My take-away thoughts from the video are that its a stylish, useable form factor but if its going to use Vista, a 1.6Ghz is the entry point, not the 1.3Ghz provided. I also question the need to include a DVD player when they could have slotted a bigger battery into that space. Slightly too heavy for comfortable one-handed use. Inventec, Kohjinsha, Intel GET […]
