PC World report that netbooks make up most of the Cyber Monday top-10 sales list on Amazon.com. It it’s not just on Amazon.com that it’s happening. Germany and the UK are two other netbook-crazy countries where netbook interest is leading, not just the computer segments, but the whole consumer electronics segment. The Samsung NC10, for example, is the number three most-viewed device in the popular German price comparison engine, Geizhals. That’s number three out of over 300,000 consumer products including DVD’s, phones and LCD TV’s. At number 10 is the […]

I have deliberately left out any personal opinions on the N97 today for fear of being overcome by the hype surrounding it, but having just had a strong cup of tea, it’s time to put my own thoughts down here. Does the N97 cut it for me as a mobile Internet device? The N97 looks rather stunning doesn’t it. Its hitting the MID market square on and including Web, photography, navigation, location, video, audio, connectivity and productivity like no other device has done before. Just look at the sites that […]

Pocketables are running a poll today and want you to tell them what you think the minimum resolution for mobile Internet is. I haven’t been over there to vote or look at results yet but I’m guessing that VGA will probably win with WVGA close behind it. For a full, productive web experience, WVGA (800×480) is the real minimum but the mass-market out there is driven more by marketing, device size, style and pocketability than by real productivity. The P8895 version of the Aigo MID with the 3mp cam, black styling and built-in 3G is coming. Mobilx just pinged me to say it’s up on their website and they expect to be able to ship on the 19th of December. The price is 684 Euros (570 before tax.) On one hand (that would be the hand you want the Nokia N97 in!) its expensive and large but on the other hand, there’s no competition if you want pro-level web. I will try and get one for testing ASAP. […]

Update: All information now being added to a new N97 reference page. Update: Nokia have now issued a news release.. Details also coming through at Atmasphere.net. Many others now posting, obviously pre-prepared, posts. All About Symbian have published hands-on: "Subjectively, the ‘feel’ and the design of the handset screams high end with materials that can not be fully appreciated in pictures (it has that caress-ability x-factor)" The N97 has a 640-wide screen will cost 550 Euro (confirmed, unsubsidised) and will be available in Q2 2009. More details will be updated […]

If you can’t wait for the Samsung NC10 3G and don’t want the small keyboard of the Eee PC 901 Go then this might be one for you to keep an eye out for. Especially if you’re in Germany. The very popular 1000H (Windows XP, SATA 160GB drive, 1GB, 6-cell) is now available with 3G built-in. (HSDPA/HSUPA) At 503 Euros inclusive of tax, its not the cheapest netbook out there but its a lot cheaper than many other 3G notebook options. Just like the Samsung NC10, it’s got a good […]

Engadget has this up as a ‘Netbook’ but it doesnt look big enough to me I don’t quite see Sony being able to reach ‘netbook’ pricing either. Is this something for CES perhaps? Stand by while we investigate further! FCC Docs are here. Source: Engadget.
