This low cost cooling chassis could be useful for those looking to add a bit more flexibility to their netbooks. Its comes in netbook sizing (227x180x16mm) with a two-port USB hub, a cooling fan and space for a 2.5" IDE drive. The high-end model will take a slim optical drive. For the quoted 25 Euro (3000 Yen, base model) including power adaptor, it appears to be exceptional value. More info and pics in the links. Store (translated) Source: Impress, Japan. Manufacturers info Thanks Robert, for the link.

It’s always worth checking back on older models for reductions and clear-out prices so I took some time this evening to review the prices of some old favourites. I was disappointed. In general, prices haven’t really moved which is extremely disappointing considering the price at which similarly-specified netbooks are sold. I guess we’re looking at old stock that no-one can shift here. Stalemate. No cash flow. The only two devices I found that showed any signs of movement were the good old Samsung Q1 and M704 which seem to be […]

The podcast video we did live on Friday evening has been available on Ustream for a few days now but the MP3 has just been posted and is available in the normal feed. Qualcomm demonstrated a Snapdragon based netbook in London last week and gave us a few hints as to how netbook-style devices based on it might turn out. Silicon.com, who published images and information from the event, asks if it’s the next-gen netbook. ‘Alternative-gen’ is more like it in my opinion. We probably won’t see many of these in the western world as we like our processing power (way) too much but I do expect these to be a success in 2009 and 2010 in other markets. Markets that haven’t really […]

Wibrain i1 – Dead? If you’re waiting for the Wibrain i1, it looks like it could be a long wait. I’ve had a few tips and even direct feedback that nothing is happening with the i1 this year. One of my Wibrain contacts no longer works at the company, there’s no word of the i1 on the Wibrain website and in general and they aren’t listed for CES. It’s all gone very very quiet so I’m wondering if there’s a problem over at NeoSolar, the parent company. if the i1 […]
