Assuming Aigo increase the SSD size, would it actually be usable on the 800Mhz Atom? I doubt it. I wonder if Compal are planning to drop the 1.3ghz CPU in.

wow…no comments?
apparently not an option yet. Although I installed windows 7 on a roverbook UMPC M704 which is the same like the gigabyte 704 and it works a bit faster than Vista. Though something went wrong: it’s not my umpc and i installed Win 7 for a friend – testing purposes. he wanted Windows Live Messenger which must have freaked out the system. Immediately after a reboot, the screen freezes and nothing else can be done apart from rebooting which leads into the same problem. need to start safe mode and uninstall live messenger to find out if it’s the cause.
back on topic: windows 7 on aigo mid? at this point of windows 7 i would NEVER install it. unless microsoft creates a netbook version, but then again, what will be left of the original windows 7? if no services installed and no visual effects…then you can go for XP as well. 800MHz Atom, 512 RAM and SSD of 4 Gigs is not enough to run windows 7. It actually has a sys req of at least 1GHz, 1 GB RAM and 16 GB of disk space. if the aigo and others with the same platform will use 1.33 atom, 1 GB at least RAM and 16 GB SSD or bigger..well, maybe, but i definitely doubt that somebody might even manage to install it right now with the standard beta of windows 7
