Keyboard backlighting great on airplanes

Without a truly usable way to input data, mobiles devices are only good for consuming information. But with a fantastic hardware keyboard like the one on the OQO Model 2+, creating content is quick, easy, and comfortable. I spent a solid hour on my flight to California tonight thumb typing on the device and enjoying the fact that the bright backlight let me work without disturbing anyone with the “personal” reading light above my seat.

It’s all these little things that make the OQO such a fantastic device to use. I use mine (old 02) mainly at home but I still use it more than my desktop (fortunately my wife refuses to use any PC apart from the desktop). Can’t wait for the new OQO to be available.
I believe that the power brick also houses charging circuits that are normally found inside a regular PC. That’s why you can’t use external batteries unless you can plug it into the OQO charger brick first. However, I get over 6 hours use out of my double capacity battery (wifi off).

What’s the noise and heat situation like? The OQO, not the plane. :)

it seems better than the Fujitsu U series which have 2 lights lighting the keyboard (oh by the way it if better than nothing ;)
