How big is the Sony Vaio P500?

Posted on 08 January 2009

It’s very thin and about as wide as most netbooks. The slim depth makes it look a little too long but even so, its not badly proportioned. Here’s the Vaio P500 with a Gigabyte M528 and an ASUS Eee PC 901. The design is very slick though. Undeniably stylish.

Just an hour ago we confirmed (via Pocketables) that the P500 was actually going to show at CES and now, as the Sony press conferences gets under way, the embargoes have lifted and a number of sites have posted official news about the Vaio P500. CNet and Laptopmag are the two we’ve checked out so far but I’m sure there are going to be many more. First thoughts on looking at the specs are…OMG. Vista on the 1.33Ghz Silverthorne. I have just that specification in my SC3 gathering dust on […]

We’ve just watched all the Samsung press releases go through as the Samsung press conference started in Las Vegas but there wasn’t anything about a UMPC. Only HDTVs and camcorders. That leaves us with the following news so far… Sony Vaio P images from Engadget. NEC’s Power IC’s to assist Moorestown MIDs ASUS Eee PC T91 Convertible. The PND Netbook? Nokia N810 WiMax discontinued.

Posted on 07 January 2009

According to Mobile Burn, the Nokia N810 WiMax version has been discontinued. Distributors have been asked to return the devices and the source states that it’s due to both slow rollout and a problem with the current WiMax switches in the network. Personally I’m surprised that the WiMax even went on sale. I can’t imagine that the customer base was that big with just two new rollouts in the U.S.  Lets hope that Nokia are just going to hold back until the new tablet is out. Sometime in Q2 I […]

SDXC standard pushes speed and storage limits.

Posted on 07 January 2009

SD cards have always been handy items for the mobile user. If you’ve got a set of kit that uses it, it’s often the quickest way to transfer large amounts of data but with the SDHC limits being way below what most people would require for, say, a large music, video or even photo library, it can’t really be used for serious storage. SDXC is the next in-line standard from the SD association and it promises to break those limits by offering storage up to 2TB. The other interesting thing, […]
