Closing Thoughts on Software
I’m impressed with HP’s ability to provide a new perspective on the computer experience, and design a simple front-end that helps newer users quickly jump into computing. The custom Ubuntu Linux distro that HP has deployed on the HP Mini 1000 MIE seems to have all the core components for a great computing experience, and as long as you don’t rely on OS specific apps, it is possible to rely completely on Linux to get the job done. For people like me who use their browser almost as if it were the OS of the computer, it is simple to be productive because of the solid browser foundation that is provided by Firefox. Maybe that is why they called it the Mobile Internet Edition?
