Lluon Mobbit PS400 UMPC. Working model Hands-On

Posted on 07 March 2009, Last updated on 11 November 2019 by

This is the first time we’ve managed to get a good hands-on with a working model of the Lluon Mobbit PS400 and, as a tablet UMPC, it’s looking great for PMP, Navigation, Web browsing, and as a grab-and-go PC. Lluon have tried to keep the design clean by using a resistive touch layer that lies flat with a ‘no frame’ screen. The button on the right is also touch responsive and acts as a combined mouse pointer and button. A reasonable 16wh battery and a good range of ports rounds of what could be a really good tablet ultra mobile PC option.  There’s no pricing, territorial or availability details yet as no-one from Lluon was at CeBIT. We’ll try and get more details over the next few weeks but you can always check the latest knowledge in the database. Keep an eye on Lluon’s microsite too.

Update: Korean launch price was about $575.

In the meantime, here’s a new image and a video we put together at the Intel stand. The OS is Korean (we think!) so it was a bit difficult to navigate but I think we managed to answer a lot of questions.

nice one, but vista on a 512MB device?! are they nuts?

while its nice to see them going with the 4.8″ screen size, it doesnt make much sense if the device isnt going to be very pocketable. while it stuck out of his back pocket by an inch or so, try sitting down on that thing. it might not work in the front pocket either because of the curvature. nobody is going to want to take it out of their pocket everytime they sit down.

the specs are also very underwhleming compared to its also KB-less rival Viliv S5.

cargo pants/coat pocket would work though and its not too big to wear on a belt. Vista would be a dealbreaker for me if the specks are 1300mhz. That seems marginal vista to me. The umpc portal spec website says xp home though (which means another set of problems–limited tablet apabilities built in?). But maybe a little better. I’m a little pessimistic in regards to the long term durability of that mouse button too as the (similar) button on my htc advantage just went out. (I know apples and oranges.) Still. All in all not too exciting. But we should wait for price and review from out UMPPortal friends before making up our minds I think. How will it compare to the upcoming oqo2? We’re looking forward to another hands on review Chippy. :) . . . Rack ’em up. Deal the cards.

UMID review should come next week. Looks like we’ll get overnight hands-on at SXSW. Keep an eye on MIDMoves.com because i’ll be working with the Intel people next week on another MIDmoves event.
