Clearly, one of the most interesting and attention-grabbing devices we had at SXSW was the tiny clamshell form-factor UMID MBook. It’s design, a combination of a familiar form factor and attractive styling, has been highlighted by commenter’s as a winning combination ever since it first appeared in Nov 2008. Between then and now, very few people have had the chance to get quality time with it. Lazion, a Korean website, teased us with some early hands-on last month and Slashgear got some thumbs-on with the keyboard at Mobile World Congress […]

A few hours ago I was showering. As with all showering sessions, I usually get an idea. Today it was an idea for simple twitter grouping so I grabbed my daughters bath crayon (an idea someone at SXSW gave me) and made a note on the glass. I’m calling it g_rouping This very simple idea requires no 3rd-party services and allows anyone to group a bunch of friends together around an interest so that other twitter users can follow them. It’s the polar opposite of what you usually see on the portal. A mobile PC built around a huge keyboard with a tiny screen tacked on to the side. Obviously this is not quite your mobile productivity box (unless you want a kneck injury) but it’s an interesting option for the home. The video below was shot a few weeks ago at CeBIT in Hannover. After reviewing it, i’m quite sure that the RF ports you see will be for wireless HDMI antennas. The big question now is what to […]

Laptopmag.com seems to get their hands on netbooks before anyone else these days. Not only did they get a Samsung NC110 before the unit was announced, but they had enough time to review the whole thing and record a nice video overview that compares the new N110 to the old NC10. Take a look at the video.

Today we saw the introduction of two new netbooks to the Samsung line. Samsung entered the netbook market in October of 2008 with the respectable NC10 [Portal page] which had a solid economy design, and impressed people with its battery life. Now Samsung updates the NC10 to the the N110, and introduces the NC310. Laptopmag.com already got their hands on the N110 and gives us a nice review (linked below). You won’t be surprised at the insides of the N110; not only are they similar to almost every other netbook […]

Golfers have a term for it “Drive for show, putt for dough. inch And the MID’s on display at SXSW from the Mid Moves team certain had that same characteristic. While the shapes and looks of all the devices caught people’s eye (especially the Mbook), that was only enough to catch people’s eye. What it took to close the deal was to see the Mid devices running something that they could relate to. This was where the devices running Windows XP had a serious advantage, as they presented a familiar […]
