Interview with Sarah Blow + UMPCs

Posted on 20 April 2009, Last updated on 12 November 2019 by

Where else would two English people at The Next Web Conference bump into each other but the tea-making facilities! Sarah Blow and I had a quick chat while we made our ‘cuppa’s’ and quickly determined that we were both mobile tech fans. I found out later that Sarah is the founder of Girl Geek Dinners, a very successful global community of like-minded women that regularly meet for presentations and discussions on different technology subjects. She’s also the community manager for Fav.or.it, the company that runs the useful TweetMeme service. After a few stalk-tweets, we had arranged a meet-up to talk about the latest UMPCs and MIDs. Here’s a video that I took. Part 1 shows the UMPCs and in Part 2, Sarah talks about Girk Geek Dinners. You’ll find the inverse video (Sarah interviews me) on Sarahs tech blog, GirlyGeekdom.com.

Part 2 Sarah talks about GirlGeekDinners.

    Interesting stuff.

But where are you finding the Aigo at around 400 Euros?

Mobilx have the P8860 at 564 Euros, and the 3G version at a mere 752 Euros. Both prices before delivery, which is a fair amount from Hungry.

  3. Balazs says:

Yeah the AIGO would be great for 400 and less. Otherwise the people don`t really need it for that much money. And it is Hungary btw…

  4. anon says:

A typical netbook actually doesn’t have more screen real estate than the UMID as it’s got a screen with the current standard 1024×600 resolution too. Its DPI might be too big for some though, especially for older people.
