I’ve been eagerly awaiting information on the upcoming Jolicloud OS and finally we can see what this cloud oriented OS brings to the table. Sascha has a great video of the Jolicloud alpha over at Netbooknews.com. The 14 minute video gives a very nice overview of Jolicloud, which Sascha is calling a ‘social OS’. Sascha from Netbooknews.de (and more recently the English version, Netbooknews.com) is down on the ground in Taipei checking out the latest and greatest from Computex. A quick video from Sascha shows us an upcoming laptop form-factor device running an interesting combination of hardware and software. We’ve been hearing rumblings of this for a while now, but it seems that Pixel Qi is now showing its new dual mode power saving screens. Based on the screen featured in the OLPC project’s XO computer. Essentially Pixel Qi has designed an LCD screen which can display just like you would expect a standard screen to do, but it can also toggle to an E-Ink like mode which uses ambient light to display the on screen image rather than a backlight. It’s been reported by a few sites recently but today it launched…apparently. At some time between 0930 and 1100 while I was getting my press pass and finding my feet at Computex, In Technology Group launched the XPPhone.

I’ve started at the quiet end of Computex today which is probably a good thing to do when it’s your first time. I’ll move the main hall tomorrow because later today we’ve got the Intel Keynote and Mobility presentation. One thing I did check out though was the Intel WiMax stand where there were a range of devices. The Viliv S5, X70 and S7 were there along with the Benq MID that’s available in Italy.
