Jkk seems to have gotten his hands on many of the MIDs shown at Computex this year. Here you can see him checking out the Dmedia M0, which is a MID that looks pretty nice on the outside, but is unfortunately running Windows CE. One surprising thing is that there seems to be a decent 5MP camera on the back of the unit. There is also WiMAX and GPS. Though it looks like the touchscreen is resistive, and there is a very apparent iPhone UI ripoff as the top layer […]

You may have seen the Viliv S5 navigation demo from the guys over at Streetdeck recently; now it’s the Viliv X70’s turn. The X70 [Portal page] is larger than the S5 [Portal page], and has integrated GPS as well as 3G data. That means that everything needed to run the great looking Streetdeck software is already under the hood. With the car kit that Viliv has made for the X70 and the Streetdeck software, it looks like the X70 could work wonders as a navigation device. The power of using […]

If I’m able to set it up, i’ll broadcast it on the /live channel but if not, don’t worry because the podcast will go up almost shortly afterwards. Update. We didnt get the podcast done due to network issues out in Taiwan. We’ve rescheduled for tomorrow. I will be on the live channel afterwards though and JKK will join me this evening for a more formal session where we’ll both be […]

Lord knows the US data market needs a whack over the head and an injection of new ideas. WiMax is one pincer. Virgin Mobile could be the other. Virgin Mobile Broadband2GO is a pay-as-you-go broadband service on the Sprint EVDO Rev A network available in 10-day or 30-day long packages. Overall the cost per MB is probably higher than other services and certainly higher than in Europe but this is just the start of it. Giving flexibility to test out mobile internet or to use it when away for business […]

We saw a few XP-based phones at Computex but they didn’t impress to be honest. This one, however, looks good even if you disregard the fact that it’s got voice capability.

I’m still in the process of unravelling all the ARM-related news from Computex to see what’s important and what is not but maybe ARM just saved me the trouble of going through a lot of news articles. They’ve got all the important links on their Computex blog. They’ve also created some great articles from within ARM Laurance Bryant reports that Intels MID category is manufactured and that the smartphone market is the place to look. (I think he must have missed the news about Moorestown being in the smartphone game!) […]
