I’ve just gotten word that all Asus Eee T91 [Portal page] shipments have been delayed due to a production delay. Details are short but it may be that manufacturers couldn’t meet the demand that they promised resellers. As a production delay, this should affect all distributors. The earliest distributors expect shipments to arrive on the 4th of September, slightly more than a month delay. Sad news for anyone who was hoping to order (or already has ordered) a T91.

Wow that really is a shame. I have been waiting to see when they will finally hit store shelves and nobody seems to know! Even over at the asus website forum I can’t get a straight answer out of them.
Now I’m finally decided… I won’t buy T91. One is waiting too long for such a device, almost ideal in dimensions, weight and functionality. I was a little bit disapointed with long response on some usual tasks as seen in one of video published on youtube. I do also wonder why manufacturers decided for glossy surfaces in working area. It is really anoing to see all that reflections if you are working in your office later in the evening, I don’t even mention outdoor computing … Despite these small beauty defects I thought T91 is an ideal device which is worthy to wait for.
However to wait for some device longer than half an year is like waiting for superstar. In addition, to hear that this will be delayed is pretty too much…
Well, compare release campaign of Viliv devices!
By the way, T91 is now available in Hong Kong retail stores and I have a look on it.
It is a nice netbook but I still waiting for viliv S7 to have a comparison between these two.
Saw the T91 in Malaysia.
No Palm Rejection and the usage of a Atom Z processor stayed my hand from reaching for my wallet.
Thanks for sharing this Ben. It’s interesting that this comes a day after Asus Australia put out a press release announcing the arrival of the T91 to major Australian retail stores in August:
http://babypc.com.au/2009080187/asus-eee-pc-t91-arriving-to-australia-in-august.htm
However, this is in line with comments I’ve heard from local IT distributor channels who expect the T91 to be available mid September.
It is possible however, that a small quantity of stock is already in Australia, but will be reserved for the major retailers only, and probably won’t last long.
The first T91 ordered in France have already been shipped.
It’s available here (with AZERTY keyboard): http://www.materiel.net/ctl/PC_Portables/49569-Eee_PC_T91_blanc_.html
Looks like someone still on scedule and delivers. http://www.sparco.com/cgi-bin/wfind2?spn=A0UB743 (I have ordered from this site before, all as promised.
I’m getting mine this Thursday(in Taiwan). I was surprised they got delayed as well in here since I thought it was available in the US for quite some time.
The bad thing is there’s only Chinese XP on it :( going to put W7 on it.
Well, I can’t understand why a good manufacturer like Asus, is making the same failure as it has made for the umpc R50a last year!! The r50a, one year after his presentation, was impossible to find or to buy, incredible! now we get the same with the T91!?? what’s the hell??
I actually jumped on ordering the day they were listed on amazon. I missed the instock shipment, but only needed to wait 2 weeks before the next batch came in. I have been using it for about 5 days now and I can confirm a few points made here.
This bitch is glossy . It is stunning right out of the box but is quickly covered in finger prints. The form factor is perfect (in my opinion) for what it is intended. Noticeably lighter than your typical eee. The touch screen responsiveness is above average but is somewhat held back by the stock xp operating system. The battery life is a shade above average for a laptop with roughly 4.5 hours but lighter on juice than the 6 cell eee’s. This doesn’t bother me in the slightest though because it has kept the overall weight down to a an impressive 2lbs.
My experience with the processor so far is that it actually isn’t any more sluggish than my 1002ha. I would have the same bog downs on websites with intensive graphic animation. You can’t push this thing to do too many things at once, but it has ample power for getting around XP and surfing the web. Iam actually pleasantly surprised how snappy it is.
Oh, by the way dont count on enjoying touchgate software Asus developed. It isn’t well integrated into XP and just seams to slow everything down.
Also one more little gripe, when in tablet form, there aren’t any keys to access right click functions while browsing. You need to rely on there right click app which is useless.
That said, I would recommend it other umpc enthusiasts. At $470 you get a fantastic little machine.
