The Clevo works well and wouldn’t be a bad choice for anyone wanting a back-up PC or something to experiment with. You certainly get a lot of goodies for the money and it’s a fun machine to use. Based on the high efficiency, long battery life, light weight and solid build I would recommend this for travelling. The hard drive might be a risk in extreme cases but considering you can slip in an expresscard/34 3G modem and tap away on the keyboard for a long time, it’s still a good option. For the caravan/RV or family holiday it’s also a good choice based on it’s efficiency, small size and low weight.
The light-touch screen wouldn’t be very usable for people wanting to annotate or handwrite so I can’t recommend it for that but if you’re looking for a touch-based device for a vertical application project, the TN70M might be a good low-end hardware option. With so many low-cost 1KG netbook options around at the moment though.
Summary.
When I first tested the Clevo TN70M over 14 months ago I was impressed by its size, weight, battery life and features but 14 months later it really has been left in the dust by low cost netbooks with higher resolution screens and, where real portability is required, much lighter UMPCs and MIDs. Touchscreens are fun and after some practice can increase productivity but most consumers won’t be looking for that. Apart from some tweakers and high-efficiency computing fans, it’s hard to pinpoint any customers that really would want the Clevo TN70M. It’s a good quality UMPC/netbook device that simply arrived too late.

I don’t see why anyone would get this when it’s in every way inferior than the T91? The ASUS has pretty much the same weight, has better keyboard and screen. Actually for me the t91 has worse screen than kohjinsha alternatives but it managed to hold for more than 4 hours connected on 3G. And the SSD should be fast enough if it loads windows 7 faster than my c2duo laptop.

Hi Chippy,
I read both your review and the original Lazion review of SPARQ M7 (apparently = Clevo TN70M).
The Lazion review described a removable back panel to replace the 1.8″ ZIF HDD and RAM. Can you tell me if the TN70M you reviewed has the same back panel for hardware upgrade?
