Why no Mobile Love from the Eee Team?

If you’re following the netbook scene closely you might have seen that an EeePC roadmap has been leaked (full info at the eeeuser forum) showing a range of 1005HA devices and an 1101HA. Minimum screen size 10 inch

No 8.9 inch love. No lightweight love.

Now I know that Eee’s are aimed at the mass market but you’d think that there would at least be a thin-and-light device based on a basic T91 motherboard without the touchscreen and swivel features.

Quite disappointing.

Really sad that Asus is abandoning mobility/portability more and more. I’m still surprised that they release a device like the t91.

I agree with Steve, they should at least keep a device like the t91 but with basic features. There is still a market for it.

Because, I was already predicting this road map, is why I bought the t91. As kind of a last change to have a small quality and portable computer for a “Low” price. There some other 9″ devices around but they are not as good balanced as the t91 (battery/weight/built quality, touch et….)

I really hope not only Asus but other mass market manufactures change they routes and keep build small devices like the 9″.

Finally ASUS understood what I’ve been saying: there is no market in USA for 9″, because 10″ is minimum for a keyboard large enough for Americans.

As long as a laptop is not pocketable, what’s the point to make it uncomfortably small?

Thats one reason why i handle my two 900s like raw eggs :-) dont wonna miss them. 9 inch best mobile formfactor.

Indeed, this is why I’ll be very mindful of my 901 Go. None quite like it will be coming out any time soon!

The keyboard is probably the reason as stated. Smaller than 10″ devices won’t often attempt to go for a “full” keyboard. Pity, because they are still perfectly usable after a short period of getting used to them.

From my point of view, most of the ‘touch screen’ that are used on UMPC in fact are not really so valuble. The precision is far from panel that is based on Wacom. So the most importaint features like writing is hardly useful with the touch screen. QOQ does provides a good Wacom screen, but it’s too cost as a whole.

So even though most UMPC looks like a ‘table pc’, but in fact the gap is big. This is somethign UMPC does need to enhance.
