Where there’s a product launch, you’ll always find Mr Blurycam. This time he’s posting under the name of Ludovic Perrier on a blog called thoout.com.
With only a day and a half to wait until what we believe will be the official launch, it won’t be long until we see the real thing but it’s always good to get some fodder for the brain while you try and refine that toplist of MIDs in preparation for a possible order tomorrow evening!
You’re looking at the appslib app store according to Ludovic, an Android developer.

The A5S (the SSD version presumably) is expected to run on a Ti OMAP / Cortex core platform as found on the Archos 5. There should be a 3G version although it’s not clear how this will be marketed. The device will be running a modified version of Android and should be priced starting at around the $300 / 200 Euro mark. Full specifications are unknown at this stage.
Update: I missed these live, non-blurry pics from Joanna at Gizmodo yesterday. (Thanks Rob)

the biggest question for me is this, will it be able to run existing android apps, or will it be limited to archos only apps?
if its limited to archos only, the value of it going android is dropping like a whale in free fall…
Totally agree. If they’ve branched out a version that’s not backward compatible, it will have little advantage over the Archos 5G.
Hopefully the advantage over the 5G will be stability of operating system! At least someone other than Archos has been working on it too….
As Charbax says below, logically it will support other Android apps, but this is Archos and logic is not always applied. They are renowned for keeping their devices locked up very tightly. But hopefully my doubts will be unfounded as their recent move to Windows based devices suggests their iron grip is loosening a little….
I don’t know. Logically, they will support all Android applications, even those made for 480×320 screens. Logically, the Archos appslib is there for an alternative Android marketplace and a way to find out which Android applications have been optimized to be used on 800×480 and 1280×720 screens. Since Archos has a 4.8″ 800×480 screen, running 480×320 applications on it will obviously look weird and buttons would be really big, and Archos even outputs to HDMI the Android applications in 1280×720 to a HDTV or computer monitor.
Hopefully Archos allows you to install Android applications from anywhere you want on the Internet, even the Google android marketplace or just simply clicking, downloading and installing any .apk Android application file.
how things end up looking depends heavily on how resolution independent the android gui libs are.
the android sdk itself supports both relative and absolute positioning of elements so it will come down to how developers have created their particular applications. The examples in the Google documentation all use relative positions but it is a bit more complicated. Hopefully developers have been mindful of the fact there are many different form factor android devices being developed.

Being an owner of the current Archos 5 I started to wonder if Android would work on that.
Also, this is Archos we’re talking about, things don’t come free. If you take the way add-ons for the currect gen of devices are all extras why do people think they will move away from that business model.
Would be cool if we could install any Android app.
