Wow… and I thought netbooks were boring… Seems strange that we’ve been seeing quite a few MIDs lately, but not in the capacity in which they were expected. Intel is responsible for propagating the term MID and the initial plan was to couple these devices with the Atom platform to have pocketable web access ‘companion’ device that could also function as a media player and productivity tool. According to Shanzai.com, the Acer Liquid is ready to go and if the prices we’re seeing at Clove are correct, Acer will be lowering the pricing bar a long way for high-end smartphones.

While Intel, AMD, ARM and VIA might want you to believe that low-power silicon is the answer to all battery life problems, the truth is somewhat different. We’re at a point now where all silicon, be it X86 or RISC-based, can perform at low enough power consumption that other components on a device become more significant in the power, heat and battery life equation. Talk about ‘Ãdle’ power drain is irrelevant when you’re using a device in constantly-connected mobile computing scenarios.

My daughter picked up a(nother) teenie mag yesterday. Apparently this particular one is a must-read for the latest Miley Cyrus info although it appears that they’re getting some good tech scoops too. Check this out. It’s the new Apple tablet with a 10.2 inch screen and it ‘should’ be called the ‘iPad’.’ It’s coming in January. Photoshoptastic?

A fairly new company called Emblaze Mobile has just unveiled its brand new upcoming phone, named the First Else. Details on carriers and pricing aren’t yet ready for primetime, but Emblaze had a press event today in which they showed off the First Else.
