Reported by Techfresh nearly a month ago is early information on a 7†ARM-based tablet from Witstech. The A81. I have a feeling that the ‘WinCE’ specification put a lot of people off but it might be worth taking a closer look as it supposedly has a capacitive touchscreen and runs on an unspecified ARM Cortex A8 core.

Thanks to the Intel Insider program I was able to take part in the Mobile Dev Camp in Munich last week and what a great day it was. As with Hamburg and Amsterdam (I really must visit a Mobile Dev Camp in a country that speaks my own language soon!) I was blown away by the skill and focus of the developers and the quality of the presentations. I’m not a developer myself but I learnt a lot. I’m sure others did too. No, this isn’t Moblin 2.1 for handhelds but it’s a step in the right direction along the roadmap (shown in article.) As 2.1 for handhelds feeds in (due for a beta release before the end of the year) the two branches of 2.1 should merge to make way for a unified OS that can support MIDs (on Moorestown) UMPCS (with some tweaking of drivers to support Menlow) and the netbooks and nettops that this new release of Moblin is aimed at. Moblin 2.1 for netbooks is now available for download.
