I have every confidence that ASUS will produce a ‘pad’ under the Eee PC brand. The questions is, when? Slashgear are relaying information from Digitimes that says it will come too. Unfortunately, Digitimes don’t have any more information that I do so all the questions remain. This has been a totally useless broadcast message from Carrypad. Not too much information on this one but we’re hoping that it’s a product that forms a range of complimentary devices based around larger screens, high-end ARM-based processors and Android. We’ve been very happy with the Archos Tablet but we’re happy to see more competition in this sector. Dell Android tablet hitting CES 2010 – Pocket-lint.

AllMyApps, with the support of Intel, have launched a helpful one-click online app installer for small-screen windows devices which looks like it might make a nice stop gap during the wait for the real applications store.

When did you last see a 3G-capable, WVGA capacitive touch, 5Mp, high-power platform with a huge application library for 350 Euros? The Acer Liquid appears to be lowering the entry point into the new, high-powered smartphone category.

Customers and bloggers spend a lot of time feeding back what they think about UMPCs and MIDs. Wouldn’t it be great if the same happened from the other direction? I mean it’s a given that everyone in the smartphone and netbook business should be buying up a few MIDs and UMPCs so that they can analyse the designs, scenarios and potential. Right?
