I just wanted to drop you all a note to let you know we’ll be doing a MeetMobility podcast in a few hours. At 1200 GMT+1 on Meetbobility.com/live you’ll find Sascha, JKK and myself talking our usual mobile computing talk with a focus on what happened (or didn’t!) at CeBIT.

We told you a little while back that the Joojoo got delayed a month due to an issue with the touchscreen. The Joojoo [product page] is expected to be released to pre-order customers on March 25th. Interface/Video Playback This convenient delay appears to have given Fusion Garage time to do a pretty major graphical overhaul. They’ve changed the odd, monochrome looking, single-color background to something a little more vibrant, and added a dash of color to the shortcut icons as well. I have to say that I like this move. I just noticed this post over at UMPCFever. It’ a photo set of an iPhone 4G. Is it the first iPad unboxing? We guess it’s some sort of Shanzai rip-off but it’s looking good anyway! This makes complete sense. Google provide the application channel and Amazon provide the content channel for the Dell Mini 5. This will set it apart from the rest of the bunch so Archos are going to have to think carefully about where they go next. A raw Archos tablet with no apps and no content channel is going to look naked next to the Dell Mini 5. As will all the other raw Android builds we’ve seen so far.

Congratulations to Brad Linder today as he launches mobiputing.com What a great name! As you can probably guess from the name, mobiputing is and will continue to be a sister site to Liliputing. But while Liliputing is focused on netbooks and mobile computing hardware and software generally, my aim with mobiputing is to cover the world of smartphone apps. I’ve been preparing an article today that highlights the importance of mobile operating systems, especially in the netbook world (watch out for it tomorrow) and I’ll be keeping a close eye […]

Back in August 2009 I took a look at some of the keywords in mobile computing. My top tips at that time were Moblin and Maemo. Obviously I was wrong on that one as both of those two keywords disappeared! My heart was in the right place though and those two keywords merged into another one, MeeGo, that I will also tip as an important one for the next 3-year timeframe. MID continues to be a difficult term to search for. EeePC and PocketPC continue to decline. iPhone continues to […]
