Viliv are just a short time away from releasing the S10 into the wild and we’ve been lucky enough to receive one of the final samples before it goes into full production. As you’ll see in the video there’s no retail packaging but the S10 is there and in this 14 minute video I unpack and demonstrate the device.

CeBIT is where many many Asian device designers will be looking for European customers and it’s totally expected that these unknown devices keep cropping up but I can’t help thinking that by the time these devices are put through final customer modifications, approved for all the local regultions and then put on the production line and distributed that ARM11 based devices are going to look very out of date. Personally i’m of the opinion that ARM11 is already out of date for a good quality web browsing experience. We’ll try […]

A lot of the 10 inch PC-based tablets we’ve seen recently have been built around the ‘old’ Diamondville CPU and 2-piece chipset which, although good, it’s as good as the Pinetrail platform that is now rolled out for new netbooks. Smaller mainboards, lower power and a light boost in performance is exactly what’s needed to improve the Windows 7 experience in a tablet form factor and that’s exactly what BYD have in their T10BPT. BYD is a Chinese company that makes cars and IT products. You might have seen a few of their designs popping up branded as Viewsonic and in this video JKK gets some hands-on time with the ‘Alice’ that is also known as the Viewsonic Vtablet. Interestingly the OED version here is shown as running Tegra 1 but the Viewsonic version has been talked about as having Tegra 2.
