In a call with Intel last Friday we heard about a ‘Million Dollar Development Fund’ which should be officially launching right about now. (Should appear here.) The fund is aimed at reducing the challenges that developers might have in developing for the Intel Atom Developer Program and it appears to be another part in an ongoing effort to seed the developer program. The goal of the fund is to help accelerate innovation of software applications for Intel® Atomâ„¢ processor-based products, starting with netbooks and eventually supporting a variety of consumer […]

I know I moaned a bit about the potentially weak CPU (a 600Mhz ARM9-architechture Rockchip 2808) on this but credit where credit is due. This is quite the bargain if all you want to do is watch 720p videos at up to 2mbps. (Hey, that’s more resolution than I get on my PAL TV!) Interestingly, the Archos 7 Home Tablet [info] has USB-Host (via miro-usb port) and composite video out for basic TV playback 2GB RAM (149 Euro version. 8GB 179 Euro version) and it weights 350gm. We had a […]

Sounds like the T1000P is OK but we still don’t know about battery life and price. The two critical points! jkkmobile: Gigabyte T1000p hands-on at CeBIT 2010.

Hop over to JKK movile to see some pics of the new Gigabyte T1000P. Basically we’re looking at an updated version of the T1028X with Pinetrail and a Multitouch screen. This will go head to head with the Viliv S10, Asus T101H, Lenovo S10-3T. It’s a shame they didnt take the chance to update the design but at least all the upgrade ports and 3G antenna will still be there. This is a big advantage for people wanting to upgrade with 3G modem, SSD and 2GB RAM. jkkmobile: Gigabyte convertible […]

Intel officially launched the N470 this morning. It’s the 1.83Ghz Atom CPU for the Intel Pinetrail netbook platform. Today Intel introduced the Intel® Atomâ„¢ processor N470. This new, faster Atom processor for netbooks has integrated graphics built directly into the CPU to help enable improved performance and smaller, more energy-efficient designs for the popular netbook category. The single core Atom processor runs at 1.83GHz, with 512k of L2 cache and DDR2-667 support. Major OEMs are expected to introduce systems based on this processor over the coming months to further differentiate […]

Update: Archos 7 Home Tablet specifications in the database. Just in from Archos PR company in German is news that Archos have launched two new tablets but with basic, low power CPUs and a very low price point. The Archos 7 Home Tablet and Archos 8, a photo frame will run Android on a basic ARM9 CPU meaning you won’t get anything like a fast web experience. At 149 Euro though with Wifi, a touchscreen Android OS, USB and 2GB storage, it’s really not a bad deal if video, photo […]

Update: Archos 7 Home Tablet information now being tracked in the database. Slightly disappointing for us this morning is the news that Archos have launched two new tablets but only with basic, very low power CPUs. The Archos 7 Home Tablet and Archos 8, a photo frame will run Android on a basic ARM9 CPU meaning you won’t get anything like a fast web experience. One can assume that they’ve got video playback working and are using their offline YouTube playback technology to get that side of things sorted out […]

You wouldn’t want to be left up the creak without this now would you! EviGroup launched the Evigroup Pad last October and have been busy since then to try and improve on the design. The result is a multitouch, SSD-capable version called the ‘Paddle.’ Available for 699 Euro (estimated April to June availability) the Paddle will come with a new software layer called ‘Scale’ (see video below) which promises to make organising and viewing your documents and media a lot easier. Certainly a large touchscreen helps to get a good […]
