Dell Streak Available Next Month for $500 Unlocked

Posted on 03 June 2010

Though Dell doesn’t seem to have yet found a US carrier to launch with, it looks like they’ll be selling the Dell Streak [Portal page] toward the end of June for $500, unlocked, from Dell.com. $500 is reasonable for an unsubsidized device of this caliber. Jkk has already had some extensive hands-on time with the device. Ronald G. Garriques was on hand to demonstrate the Streak at the Wall Street Journal’s D: All Things Digital conference where he stated the price and availability of the unlocked Streak. The Dell Streak […]

Intel Demonstrates World of Warcraft Running on a Moorestown device… slowly. [video]

Posted on 03 June 2010

It’s hard to imagine that anyone is unfamiliar with the largest massively multiplayer role playing game (MMORPG, for short) in the world – World of Warcraft, but for those of you who are not… well I just described it. World of Warcraft is certainly not the most graphically demanding computer game, but I’d still be impressed to see it running at 30 FPS on a Moorestown device. Sadly, the demo given by Intel showed the game running at something like 5 FPS… which is low enough to render the game […]

New Viliv UMPC? Viliv X10 spotted running Windows 7 at Computex

Posted on 02 June 2010

I just put an article up on UMPCPortal’s sister site, Carrypad, about the Viliv X10 — a 10 inch slate running Android. Interestingly, the source article from LaptopMag mentions that they’ve spotted the same X10 device running Windows 7 at Microsoft’s booth: There’s also a Windows 7 version of the Viliv X10. Though Viliv was not showing the Windows 7 version of the X10 in their suite, we spied a demo unit working under glass at Microsoft’s booth and took a few pictures. The Atom sticker can clearly be seen […]

Viliv X10 Android Slate at Computex, 10” with a 1366×768 Capacitive Screen

Posted on 02 June 2010

Viliv is showing off a new product, the X10, at Computex. LaptopMag got their hands on the X10 for a short while and sound rather excited about it, calling it a potential “incredible iPad alternative”. The X10 is your familiar slate form-factor and has a 10” capacitive touchscreen running at 1366×768. Avram Piltch of LaptopMag points out that the 1366×768 screen size is a 16:9 aspect ratio, meaning it’ll be better shaped and more detailed for your widescreen movie collection than the iPad’s 1024×768 screen which is 4:3 and is […]
