Chatting to people around IFA today we’re all agreeing that the Viewsonic Viewpad is another ‘complete’ Android Tablet product. Apart from the latest Ghz-class CPU, and lets not forget that a 600Mhz Cortex A8-class CPU isn’t actually that bad, it has everything needed for the full Android experience. From camera to 3G. From GPS to Market. From capacative touch to good build quality. You can even use this for voice calls.
The price is 399 Euro (maximum) which we think is very competitive indeed.

Correction: IN the video I talked about a 1024×600 screen. We’re checking this. At the moment the general opinion is that it’s an 800×480 screen. That does make some difference for web browsing it will be difficult to detect any downside when using it in apps that are all designed for smaller resolutions anyway.
Ladies and Gentlemen I do believe we have a winner in the fight against the ipad. The Samsung Galaxy was shaping up to be the main contender but last minute money issues killed it stone dead.
are you sure the screen is 10×6? if thats so, then only the CPU & stock Android are the downsides. personally i like the design of this better than the Galaxy.
normally i dont like UI layers but in the Galaxy case they did an excellent job since Android 2.2 isnt really tablet ready.
did VS say if they were going to upgrade to Gingerbread? i dont want to buy another tablet in 3 months just to get an OS that was designed for it.
What about us CDMA folks?
This is a very good competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Tab, too bad about the Tab’s pricing.
The Camagi II sounds very good on paper too. Hopefully Chippy can get a videoo of that.
