Also thanks to Dynamism, we’ve got the TW317A5 on it’s way for us to have a thorough look over. Stayed tuned.

Considering my aforementioned thoughts on consumer-oriented slates, the Onkyo tablets are going to have to be seriously usable if they want to avoid a roast. I have yet to use a capacitive Windows slate, so perhaps there will be some redemption to be had. I won’t let my earlier essay influence my thoughts on the slate. If it works well, it works well. If it doesn’t, expect me to be very honest about it as we always are in our reviews.

I’d buy this in a heartbeat if I could get it with no OS preinstalled. But even if the bulk OEM Windows single liscence price raised the price of this by $30, it’s $30 more than I want to pay. Spec wise its really just netbook specs + a capacitive touchscreen. So I would be expecting ~$500 for the high-end model based solely on specs, will it be that? Nooooooooo.

as already mentioned elsewhere … the win clan again and again will have to learn the lecture the hard way. it seems the earth can’t be turned backwards once

Given the price and specs versus the new Tega V2, I can’t see them as viable. I’m still waiting for Oak Trail. I think the Atom just doesn’t have the power for multitasking and I’d worry about RAM constraints with only 1GB. OTOH, for running a desktop compatible app like MS or Open Office or for the full browser experience, they’d probably be sufficient.

If you have a capacitive stylus, please see if it works with the handwriting recognition in the Windows Tablet Input Panel (TIP).
