Those of you that have the MiFi 2352 or 2372 will know that the device contains more than just a 3G/Wifi router. There’s a GPS and an application processor inside. The application processor runs a basic web server that allows configuration and statistics. Unfortunately, the GPS has never been accessible and despite promises of new applications, they never materialised. MiFi OS looks likely to change that. MiFi OS is a new set of firmware that includes a number of applications aimed at the corporate user. VPN, data tracking, location service, […]

It seems like most of the tech world had come to an agreement that the Droid Pro would simply be the love child of the Droid 2 [product page] and Milestone 2, combining the US and EU bands to form an otherwise perfect replica that would function internationally as well as domestically (with business users in mind). Instead, it looks like the Droid 2 had an affair with a BlackBerry, and the result is a Droid device which is squarely aimed at business folks (quad-band features included). The Droid Pro […]

As Chippy pointed at his personal blog, it’s possible to search Flickr for pictures taken by particular cameras. By analyzing EXIF data, flickr is able to keep detailed data for all the cameras that are used for snapping photos that end up on the site. Flickr has a neat page that has stats for all of their photos and the cameras that they were taken with. Looking at the stats for iPhones shows some interesting trends: *For clarity’s sake, I’ll refer to the iPhone 3GS as the iPhone 3G[S] so […]

We’re waiting for a price on this productive tablet from Tegatech but if it’s anywhere near what Viewsonic are proposing for the equivalent (we assume same OED) Viewpad 10 – around 550 Euros for an entry-level version- it will be well worth checking out. Update: The launch is postponed untilt he 15th due to global Windows Phone 7 launch events. We tested the Viewpad 10 at IFA last month so we’re already fairly confident that the performance and responsiveness is acceptable and with Windows 7 Pro, 2GB of RAM, a […]

We have a limited amount of time to write articles for Carrypad so we try and pick products that truly fit what we believe to be a consumer internet device. Here are three very important points we consider: Web – High quality browser (but not full internet experience with Flash, plugins.) because 50% of tweets, many emails, many facebook updates come with a link that needs a browser. It’s the common denominator of applications. User interface – Must be finger-focused (if no pointer controls or keyboard are included in the […]

As I look to organise and tag my Flickr images more orderly i’ve been looking for a way to search for photos I shot using different cameras. Using advanced search doesnt give a camera option but I found a way. Via this post I found that you can search for images from certain cameras so I yanked the search term from the URL and applied it to a search URL that included my user id. It worked so I need to write this down for reference. Examples: Searching for all […]
