Blackberry Playbook Hands-On

Surprisingly, there’s a bunch of Playbooks here at CES to, er, play with. The number of people her jostling for a touch reminds me of the Samsung Galaxy Tab launch at IDF in September. Something’s going right!

Price and applications, these are two important but missing pieces to the Blackberry Playbook puzzle that could make or break the device. It looks a bit plain and is a little larger than the Galaxy Tab but the user interface is swift and ‘physical’; something between the iPad and Galaxy Tab in terms of responsiveness. There’s no lag which makes it very enjoyable. We still don’t know the details on the CPU. 1Ghz, dual-core is all that anyone is talking about for the time being. Accurate launch timescales are also unknown but it does seem to be US focused. That makes sense for Blackberry, at least initially.

Take a look at the user interface in the video below. I like it, but I want to see applications
