Today at CES LG have gone official with their latest Android smartphone. It sports a 4-inch NOVA display which LG claim is “the brightest, clearest and most readable inch mobile screen available, promising to be extremely bright while at the same time being more power efficient than both LCD and AMOLED mobile screens. If the name doesn’t give it away, the phone has a black finish and LG also claims it’s the worlds slimmest mobile phone at an impressive 9.2 mm, which is 0.1 mm thinner than Apple’s iPhone 4. […]

Chippy is working hard over at CES 2011 and yesterday live blogged the Asus press conference in which Asus announced four new tablets. Eee Slate EP121 [product tracking] The Eee Slate is the only Windows based product of the bunch but comes packed with a 1.33GHz Intel Core i5-470UM processor, 2 or 4GB’s of memory and either a 32 or 64GB SSD drive. If you’ve read the live blog of the ASUS event today you’ll be aware that 4 devices were launched. It’s interesting to note that there were no traditional netbooks launched which indicates a mainstream status (some will call that ‘death’) of the netbook. What ASUS are doing here is looking for new form factors and operating systems for the 10 inch category and this Eee Pad Slider [product tracking] is one of them. Vic Gundotra, VP of Engineering for Google, explained at Google I/O last May that Google intend to deliver a whole lot more than just applications on the Android Market by demonstrating a Android music download service. It seems Google don’t plan on stopping with just music downloads as a recent report in The Wall Street Journal explains that Google are trying to lure publishers into supporting a “digital newsstand” service for Android.
