I have been predicting a 20-30% all-round improvement in battery life with Oaktrail. I might be wrong. Viliv are showing their new Oaktrail-based X70 ultra mobile PC and it’s coming in at 420gm, with 6.5hr battery life. The previous X70 was about 650gm so that’s a great improvement. I’m hearing the same message all over. It appears that all Oaktrail devices are going to be available earliest in March 2011 and the X70 is no different. I’ve got a video for you later so stick around for that. Specs are […]

One of the hardest things to keep track of this week is all the key features of each device. There are a tone of 7 and 10″ devices but what are the unique selling points! Viliv hae gone for battery life and although the X7 isn’t the thinnest out there, it’s light and has a huge (for an ARM-based device) 21Wh battery. That’s going to take it to 10 hours which, if you’re using something like the Tab as much as I am, a significant advantage. I’ve got a video […]

Surprising me as I wander the Nvidia stand is the Dell Streak 7. Clearly on Tegra 2 and looking nice, it’s yet another high end 7″ Android tablet. I’ve got a video that ill prepare later. This one is running 2.2 with a Dell user interface and what looks like 8gb of storage. The key with this one is that its well positioned for Honeycomb due to the platform.

Capacative touchscreen. Oaktrail, Windows 7, 2GB, fingerprint readera and looking like it’s aimed more toward prosumer and business/vertical markets. No product name at the moment. Should be coming to market in 1-2 months.

While Meego on Moorestown is an interesting story, I bet the combination of Android on X86 raises more eyes. We’re at the Intel booth and Gemtech are showing the Zeus some tablet. Not much information here although I did speak to a representative who tells us it is being test by carriers right now and will launch in Q2. There’s a Meego version in the works too. Video coming soon.

The Honeycomb news isn’t stopping today. I’m actually surprised that we haven’t seen a formal new release from Google yet! Details are likely to come out in the next few hours for the G-Slate but for the time being, at least we know it’s real. Not much to see of the device in the video which appears to be a variant of the Honeycomb video that has been doing the rounds today. The video is accompanied by this description: Here’s an exclusive look at the upcoming Androidâ„¢ Honeycomb-powered T-Mobile® G-Slateâ„¢ […]

It was actually back in June of 2009 that we got our hands on Viliv’s first generation 7 inch slate for a full review, the Windows X70EX. Now at CES 2011, Viliv has unveiled the second generation of this device, the X70. The X70 runs Windows 7 out of the box and Viliv claims that it’s the “slimmest and lightest inch Windows tablet in the world, but I’m certain that there’s some subtext to that claim. The 7 inch 1024×600 screen has been upgraded to a capacitive touchscreen which will […]
