MSI have the Tegra powered Windpad behind glass here at CEBIT. The images above show full sd card slot, mini-hdmi, mini-USB, one full-sized USB port and the same optical mouse as seen on the Windows-based Windpad 110w. MSI say that this will be available in the Q2 timeframe and MSI are aiming for the Honeycomb OS. Posted from WordPress for Android with the Galaxy Tab

Unfortunately we can’t get hands on with this right now as there’s building work going on all around me but at least we can take a look at the specs. It’s running the AMD C-50 cpu which is up there as one of the most powerful of the ultra mobile-class x86 processing platforms. Hdmi-out, web cam, docking port, one USB port, headphone out and a mobile Sim card slot is included. It has a very sharp and bright 10.1 capacitive touchscreen (I suspect a higher resolution that 1024×600) and the […]

I wrote a few days ago on my personal blog about my mobile video editingI project aims. Soon after I posted that, I had a long talk with @jkkmobile who, like me, is always looking for ways to improve speed and quality while keeping the weight down. We both deeply understand the tech involved, the requirements and challenges and have come up with a set of initial thoughts that we hopebare worth sharing. To recap, the three areas of interest are cloud-based processing, arm-based smartphone and tablet processing and traditional […]

Is it the iphone4? A netbook? Honeycomb on a quad core tablet? Or is it going require 2kg of Windows laptop? I’m on a mission to find a way to improve the video setup I use for my YouTube posts while retaining mobility. I currently record in VGA using the mjpeg format at well over 10mbps. The results are smooth and free of common artefacts . The mjpeg format is also easy to chop around because there’s no frame-frame compression. With a fast ssd and 2Gb of ram its easy […]

The product page for the Acer Iconia Tab W500 is now live and populated with links, specs, gallery and videos. I’ve been through the details with a fine toothcomb and on one had I’m quite excited about a sub 1KG tablet with an acceptable CPU, good GPU, hi-res wide-view screen, UMTS and docking station for 599 Euro (current average online prices, Germany) but when you look at the weight / battery life ratio, it isn’t that good. Acer have only managed to squeeze in a 36Wh battery which means you’re […]
