When we reported earlier in the week that the Asus Eee Pad Slider had passed through FCC approval, there was no official announcement from Asus. However, yesterday, the official press release announcing the device as part of the Asus product line went live on the Asus website. The official launch brings some additional tidbits that further pique our interest in this device. One of the trends that is disturbing me in the Android infrastructure is the implementation of proprietary solutions to various use-case problems in new premier devices. Asus bundles Asus WebStorage with the […]

Acer’s 7-inch Iconia Tab A100 should be available for purchase in early August, according to Engadget. The Iconia A100 looks like it will be the first 7-inch Honeycomb tablet to hit the market, come August. It’s also bringing a rather attractive price along with it $300. Engadget doesn’t specify whether the information, which they obtained from an email sent to retail partners, indicates if the $300 price point is for the WiFi-only version of the A100, nor does it specify which capacity will be associated with that price. I’m guessing […]

Brad Linder over at Liliputing has spotted a device on it’s way through the FCC that appears to be a new device made by Fusion Garage, the company responsible for the failed Joojoo. Fusion Garage’s first device, the Joojoo, didn’t quite take off because it failed to deliver on many of the objectives that the project set out to conquer (cheap/easy to use/good battery life). The device wasn’t on sale for very long, and excitement for the product quickly died thanks for unfavorable reviews. It’s somewhat amazing that Fusion Garage […]

Another tablet in the mix! Multi-boot possibilities set this apart from the ARM-based tablets. The E-king range of UMPCs, by the company that bought the rights to the extremely productive (but very ugly) Wibrain B1/i1 and the slider M5 ultra mobile PC will soon have a 10 inch tablet offering called the Talent T9. It’s built on Intel’s Oaktrail and is said to be ‘the thinnest’ in the world. Whatever, China! What we really need to see is the device in action. Specifications look OK with 2GB RAM, an impressive […]

It has been 3 working days since I started my self-initiated challenge to have my Iconia A500 replace my HP 2730p at work. It took the first day to get it set up and configured, and a second day that I was out sick to really solidify how I was going to run the Acer for the foreseeable future. In that time, I have downloaded and applied the step up to Android 3.1 (the Iconia came stock with 3.0). I have also tested several functions of the various ports. I […]

I’m sitting here and experiencing real peace and quiet right now. Being away from the desk makes you think differently and in this case I was cycling up a foothill of the Alps here in Bavaria thinking about how many websites are struggling to compete against the big boys. Media companies like AOL are all over the web now covering every important topic and working-in coverage of niche keywords while they do it. The SEO power of these media companies is quite phenomenal. They’re also getting good at theatre. The […]

Motorola is definitely going to get a bad rap for this one. Remember that Xoom that Motorola claimed would be the first 4G LTE tablet, once sent in for an after-sale upgrade? Yeah well the Xoom has been out for months now with no word on when that upgrade would become available. Today Samsung has officially beaten Motorola to offering the first tablet with 4G LTE, much to the chagrin of Xoom owners. As we mentioned just the other day, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is now officially available, making […]
