We’ve already seen one example of an Ultrabook-like slate that will come to the market this year and respect has to be given to Samsung who must have put some of their top designers and engineers on the Samsung Slate PC to achive a sub 900gm Core i5 tablet but next year when Haswell, the 4th-generation of the Core processors, arrives in late 2012, the power-envelope will be low enough for more form factors.
In this video Karen Regis, Director of Marketing for Ultrabooks, talks about Phase 3 along with some great detail about the current and mid 2012 phases including the quick-start, always updated and security features. You’ll hear her talk about this touch and slate ‘experimentation’ too along with a mention of Thunderbolt, the high-speed connectivity standard. Note also that despite the Samsung Slate PC showing that tablets could run in Core processors, Intel see tablets running on non-ultrabook platforms.
