Samsung has just launched the new Series 9 Ultrabook here at CES. Information, live images and video below.

In the Intel Ultrabook press event this morning at CES we heard how user interface changes will be coming to Ultrabooks. Windows 8, touch and gestures were mentioned and we managed to capture a demo of a gesture based game on video. This is not something you’ll see on all Ultrabooks and this really is just a demonstrator but it’s interesting to think about how gestures could be applied to the standard Windows user interface. Looking very complete but weighing a touch more than the average Ultrabook is this Wistron-designed Ultrabook was shown on stage at the Ultrabook press event today.  

We’ve just spent some time with Asus  looking around a selection of the products being shown at CES this week. Unfortunately there are no new Ultrabooks being shown but there’s a “Hot Pink” UX21 here. Not for the faint hearted (Or maybe it is!)     An ASUS representative tells us that the next Asus Ultrabooks will be launched in the April timeframe and will be Ivy Bridge based. No details were given.

The Intel CES press conference has just finished. Here are the notes taken during the event… The stage was dedicated to Ultrabooks today at Intels CES Press Event. 10 Ultrabooks featured in the main display from Toshiba, LG, Acer, Compal, Asus, HP and Lenovo. Mooley Eden called it the ‘Ultrabook Press Conference’ which indicates how important Ultrabooks are to Intel.

At a Toshiba Press event this evening we got a glimpse of the 14” laptop that will be the next Toshiba (USA) Satellite Ultrabook (not high-end Portege brand as the Z835 is in the USA.) At ‘under 4lb’ it’s not the ultra-light that the Z830/Z835 is but you’re looking at a device that will be cheaper than the Z830 and will be targeted at a more mainstream customer. We even caught a brief glimpse of Windows 8 running on it.

At the CES Unveiled event in Las Vegas this evening, Lenovo was showing off two new Ultrabook, official Ultrabook, notebooks. The U310 and U410 are said to more mainstream 13” and 14” Ultrabooks which I take to mean ‘cheaper with more storage.’ I hope this doesn’t mean the start of the end of SSD-based Ultrabooks!

With a full HD display – 1920×1280 – the new Acer Iconia Tablet will have a quad core CPU. No information was given but we’re off to see if we can get some hands-on right now.
